FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)

FUE Method

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is the latest method of hair transplantation. Unlike the outdated FUT/STRIPE method, it does not require linear incisions or stitching, ensuring minimal invasiveness, a natural effect, and a short recovery time after the procedure. In FUE, hair follicles are harvested in the form of single grafts measuring 0.5 – 0.7 mm from the back and sides of the head, and then placed in areas of loss in previously prepared micro-channels. The entire procedure is performed under local anesthesia.

Qualification

Our team has extensive experience in hair transplantation using the FUE method. We provide professional advice regarding eligibility for the procedure seven days a week. Simply send us online photos of your head, and we will assess the situation based on them and determine whether transplantation is advisable and to what extent.

Qualification is free and is the first step you must take to schedule the procedure.

What does the procedure look like?

MEDICAL CONSULTATION

Based on the submitted photos, the doctor assesses the quality of the donor area and determines the possible number of grafts for transplantation. A recommendation for the method of the procedure will also be presented. The crucial consultation occurs at the clinic, before the procedure. This is when the hairline and transplant zones will be established. A detailed medical interview will be conducted, along with photographic documentation. Blood tests will be done before the consultation. During the entire consultation, our caretaker will be present to translate all conversations with the doctor.

HARVESTING GRAFTS

The harvesting phase begins with local anesthesia in the back of the head. It only takes about 5 minutes and there is only minor pain due to the use of needles.

After properly preparing the donor area, individual hair follicles are individually extracted using FUE micro-tools (a micromotor equipped with a 0.5 - 0.7 mm blade). The harvested hair follicles typically contain an average of 2-3 hairs. The experience of the doctor ensures the extraction of hair follicles without damage. The use of micro-tools guarantees the safety of the procedure and a short recovery period for the donor area. During the extraction, you lie on a special bed, head down. The entire procedure is carried out under local anesthesia and is completely painless.

QUALITY CONTROL

The harvested hair follicles are cleaned and subjected to a quality analysis. The quality and size of the hair follicles are determinants for the next stage - opening channels, which means preparing the places for the transplanted hair follicles. Similar to the process of harvesting hair follicles, this requires precision and experience.

CHANNEL PREPARATION

Equally important is the angle of opening channels for the transplanted hair follicles. In these channels, the previously harvested grafts will be placed. Capturing the individual hair growth pattern and determining specific hair growth angles in each part of the patient's scalp is key to achieving the desired hairstyle after the procedure. Another factor in capturing naturalness is the correct determination of the frontal hairline. The determination of the frontal hairline must be based on the anatomical and morphological characteristics of the patient and the correct proportions. During this stage, you lie on your back and can freely read, listen to music, or watch television, which is available in the treatment room.

PLACEMENT OF GRAFTS

This is the final stage of the FUE hair transplant procedure, performed while lying on your back. It typically lasts from 2 to 3.5 hours, depending on the number of hair follicles being implanted.

To achieve the most natural look, it is not recommended to implant follicles with 2-3 hairs on the front line, as they would give the patient an artificial appearance and make it obvious that a hair transplant has been performed. After completing the front line, double and triple follicles are placed in the upper and back part of the head to achieve greater density in these areas.

After the procedure, a platelet-rich plasma treatment is performed and dressings are applied to the donor area (they will be removed the next day during the check-up at the clinic).

Hair Growth Time

The first transplanted hairs start to grow about 3 months after the procedure, so you need to be patient. In the first phase, about 30% of the transplanted hairs will grow, with each subsequent month bringing more growth and density. By around the 8th month, you will have about 80-90% of the targeted amount of hair on your head. The final effect is achieved after about 12 months. After that, the hairs only gain thickness and become more flexible.

Goals of the Transplant

The main goal of the procedure is to rebuild the hairline at the front to create a permanent frame for the face. Another objective is to strengthen and fill in gaps on the head and ensure adequate hair density. During the procedure, we aim to perform as large a transplant session as possible to maximally cover the area of loss.
